Cave Spring Arts Festival 2002 and the George Faile Foundation
On Wednesday, June 5, the church enjoyed a traditional Ghanaian dinner of Groundnut Stew over rice, with condiments from peanuts to coconut, boiled corn and jelly cake. The reason for this special dinner was to discuss the hospital in Ghana that is operated by the George Faile Foundation. The George Faile Foundation is a non profit organization, established in 1998 in order to ensure longterm ongoing funding for mission hospitals and medical facilities in developing countries. Right now, the focus of interest is to help support the Baptist Medical Centre in Nalerigu, Ghana in West Africa. It was founded by Dr. George Faile, Jr. in 1958. His son, Dr. George Faile III is the present Medical Director.
In 1999 the Baptist Medical Centre had 8206 admissions, 57,314 outpatient visits and 1055 major surgeries. The money raised during parking cars and selling snow cones on Festival weekend will go to the George Faile Foundation to help the medical centre in Ghana.
